January/February 2026

The first two months of the year have been pretty exciting for Ackleton Village Hall – it’s hard to know where to start!

Having reached our latest fundraising target, we handed the keys of the hall over to Luke and the team from Standford Building and landscaping on the 27th January. Just one week later, they returned them to us and we were the proud owners of a brand new, non-bouncing floor!

Then it was turn of the Ackleton volunteers, aka the Renovation Crew; a team of stalwarts worked shifts for the next ten days to rubdown, sand, paint , varnish and clean and the last mop was put finally away on Friday 13th (yes, I know!)

We are incredibly grateful to our fantastic community for all the effort that they put in over that period and it was lovely to see everyone appreciate their hard work at our Valentines Coffee Morning on the 14th.

Lured in by the chance of the first glimpse of the new room, we had record attendance and 65 visitors young and old came through the doors and admired all the hard work. We also welcomed Elaine and Roz from the Parish Council, who were handing our Smartwater security kits (and might have had a sneaky slice of cake too) and our local councillor Dawn, who is a regular at our events. It was a fantastic morning, topped off by a profit of £268 in donations.

Events for March:

16th March – 22nd March is National Village Halls Week and we hope to continue our progress on renovating the hall and its surroundings with the help of our local volunteers. There will be a totaliser for volunteer hours and, with your help, we hope to reach 100 hours in the week. The week odf the 22nd, there will be a village litter pick with coffee and tea at the hall afterwards as a reward!

Friday 27th March is time for another Social Night – the chance to meet with your neighbours and share a drink or two. It’s a BYOB event, but we will be selling soft drinks so come and join us and enjoy some good company in our lovely new room.

And finally, we drew our first 200 Club winners on 27th January:

1st Prize –Lucy Field

2nd Prize – Cazzy Davies

3rd Prize – David Green

Congratulations to all our winners!
