By the time you read this, the Hall will be about to close for a month for some long-awaited major renovation work. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery, Severn Trent, The Bernard Sunley Foundation, Twemlows Community Fund, Marches Energy Advice and, of course, the support of our lovely customers, we have been able to fund beautiful new toilets, including much-needed disabled access and baby changing facilities, replacement of the kitchen roof and porch and general repairs to the main roof. We still have a few grant applications pending, which could see us only £7,000 short of our total target for the roof – hopefully we will have some good news to share next month.
Flicks in the Sticks visited us again with a showing for viewers both young and young at heart! We screened Monsters Inc to a small but very appreciative audience and sold lots of tasty treats. Screenings pause over the summer, but we will back in the Autumn with a packed programme of films and other community events – details to follow in September’s update.
Our final event prior to handing the building over to Luke and the team at Stanford Building and Landscaping, was a Beer Tasting and Curry Night; We are grateful to John from Bewdley Brewery, who gave a fascinating presentation and expertly guided us on a journey through 8 very different beers, all brewed on the banks of the Severn. Curry was provided by Jolly Catering and beer, food and atmosphere were excellent. The event added over £650 to our funds and was a great way to end the first half of the year.

We drew the July 200 club at the Beer-tasting Evening – Congratulations to:
1st Prize: Keiron Mead
2nd Prize: Molly-May Walton
3rd Prize: Hazel Grimsdale
